Melodifestivalen 2026: Here are the artists in the running!

The full list of participants in Melodifestivalen 2026, Sweden's national selection for Eurovision, has just been revealed at a press conference. Before we delve into the names of the artists who will be trying to succeed KAJ and their anthem about the benefits of the sauna to represent Sweden at Eurovision, let's take a look at the major changes that have shaped this year's contest.

A record number of applications!

The work of the production to make Melodifestivalen « Sweden's most attractive stage » seems to be paying off! This year's competition saw a record number of 3,888 applications submitted, up 39% on last year.

The 2026 edition also marks a major change in the way artists are selected. SVT announced this summer that the 30 songs in the running would henceforth be selected by an internal committee, giving full editorial responsibility to the public broadcaster and relegating the jury to a decision-making support role. The aim? For SVT to retain the final « cut of Melodifestival programming, without ignoring the analysis of trends in today's digital music landscape. Has the objective been achieved? Here is the list of artists at Melodifestival 2026.
