All about Vidbir 2025, the Ukrainian national selection

Natsionalnyi Vidbir known as Vidbir is the Ukrainian selection that has been determining the country's representative at Eurovision since 2016. "Vidbir" (Відбір) means "selection" in Ukrainian. This festival is a national music competition held every year in Ukraine to choose the artist or group that will represent the country at Eurovision. It is organised by Suspilne, the public broadcaster in Ukraine, together with STB.

Selection of candidates for Vidbir 2025

Suspilne opened an application period several months before the competition. The channel said that for the 2025 edition, it would draw up a list of up to 20 candidates for the national final, based on the songs submitted. These songs and their performers will then go through a two-day internal audition phase, after which Suspilne will publish a list of 9 songs it would like to see compete in the Vidbir final.

The remaining songs from Suspilne's initial selection will then be published, and the Ukrainian public will be invited to take part in an online vote to determine their favourite. The winner of this vote will be awarded 10th place at Vidbir 2025.

Vidbir respects the rules imposed by the EBU, i.e. songs must not exceed 3 minutes and must not have been previously published.
