Monroe, a lyrical voice to defend France at Eurovision 2026 with «Look!»
A funny sequence shook the small world of Francophone Eurovision at the start of March. It was the media specialist Clément Garin who fired the first shot on Monday, followed by Le Parisien and 20 Minutes: Monroe will represent France at Eurovision in Vienna next May.
Monroe is a young 17-year-old French-American singer who grew up in the United States before becoming known in France during the 11th season of the show *Prodiges* on France 2, which she won in the Singing category. Her performance of Mozart's "The Magic Flute" had struck a chord with viewers – and likely the French delegation, who will therefore call upon her this year.
She released a debut album in November, made up of covers of lyrical tunes.
Update this Friday 06/03 – France Télévisions and the delegation confirmed the news, and the song was revealed this evening at 6:00 PM. The song is called «Regarde !». We'll let you discover the video below.

What's the verdict? The editorial team's opinion!

Since 2024, lyrical music has been on the rise at Eurovision. From Nemo (Switzerland) in 2024 with its pop opera JJ (Austria) in 2025 with its self-assured tenor, France seems intent on riding this wave and is trying to find the winning formula.
After betting in previous years on established stars with a solid fanbase, such as Slimane (4e) and Louane (7e), France Télévisions offers a radically different map this time, that of lyricism. And this is not the first time France has attempted this style. We remember’Amaury Vassili in 2011 (finished 15th). Too soon?
«Look!» it's a mashup between orchestral sounds and opera that have been successful over the last two or three years. Slimane for vocal power, Nemo For violin tremolos, JJ for the staccato opera, and Barbara Pravi for the French Love theme, in short, an upgrade of everything France has done best in recent years. And assuredly «Regarde!"» is tailor-made to grab maximum points from the Jury, while riding this Piaf-style Love theme that will tap into a collective imagination that works well at Eurovision.
So, are we agreed? Yes! Here at Eurovision & Friends, we're not the type to blindly support. Vocal technique, orchestral ambition, a lyrical style inspired by underlying trends. As every year, the key will lie in the live voice on stage, of course, in the staging, obviously, the emotion, but above all in the ability to Monroe to go and convince an audience beyond the French fans (who, let's not forget, don't vote!) and... manage a pressure that other artists have struggled to handle. Sending a 17-year-old artist onto the biggest musical stage in the world is a gamble that is as audacious as it is potentially rewarding!
