The first 8 finalists in the Melodi Grand Prix 2026 to decide Norway's representative at Eurovision 2026 were announced on Monday. The 9th place will be decided by the public, with 8 more artists competing for this final spot. The winner will be announced on Tuesday 27 January.

With the return ofAlexander Rybak, c’est un peu le retour du Roi. Il avait gagné en 2009 avec Fairytale, puis était revenu à l’Eurovision en 2018 mais avec un moindre succès. C’est LA grosse annonce de cette promo 2026 ! Mais cela ne sera pas une promenade de santé car les compétiteurs sont sérieux ! On pense à Emma Gunnarsen (la soeur de Marcus & Martinus ! ) , elle qui s’est entourée de l’équipe de Loreen «Tatoo » and Mileo who returns with Frankenstein «, a dark theatrical proposition.

The songs will be revealed on 26 January and the final will be held in Lillehammer on 28 February. As last year, there will be no semi-finals across the country.
