Louane at Eurovision 2025: a winning choice for France?

It's official: Louane will represent France at Eurovision 2025. A native of Hénin-Beaumont, she confirmed the news on her Instagram account on Thursday 30 January, declaring: ’ I've got something to tell you" .
Louane made her name in 2013 when she took part in ‘The Voice’, and quickly won over the French public. She was also seen in the cinema in 2014 in ‘La Famille Bélier’, which won her the César for Best Actress. Since then, she has enjoyed one musical success after another, with five albums, the latest of which, ‘Solo’, was released in 2024.
The announcement came as a complete surprise to fans, since Louane had denied in December that she wanted to take part in the contest. The news has been very well received by Eurovision fans, who are now eagerly awaiting the song she will perform in Basel.
Why is Louane a strategic choice for Eurovision 2025?
The selection of Louane to represent France at Eurovision 2025 is a strategic decision by France Télévisions, under the direction of Alexandra Redde-Amiel, head of the French delegation and director of entertainment and games.

To maintain this trend, France Télévisions chose Louane, a French-speaking artist who is already well established and appreciated by the French public. Her albums sell well, her tours are sold out, and she benefits from significant goodwill. Her moving personal story adds a touch of authenticity that could resonate with European audiences.
