Malta Eurovision Song Contest 2025: Artists in the running
The Malta Eurovision Song Contest (MESC) is Malta's selection for the Eurovision Song Contest. It is organised by the national broadcaster Public Broadcasting Services (PBS).
Malta at Eurovision
Malta's first participation in Eurovision dates back to 1971. From its inception in 1971 until 1976, the Malta Song Festival, an existing song festival established in 1960, was used to select contestants, with the winner representing the country at the Eurovision Song Contest. Since 1991, national finals under various names have been held to select the candidates, including Malta Song for Europe, Malta Eurovision Song Contest and Malta Eurosong .
In 2019 and 2020, PBS used X Factor Malta to select the artist. The national final format returned for the 2022 competition.

Entry selection process and rules
The broadcaster opened a submission period several months before the national selection. Once the submission period was over, a jury examined all the entries and selected 24 songs for the semi-finals.
All competing artists must be Maltese citizens and for groups, the lead singer must be a Maltese citizen. However, songwriters may be of any nationality. Artists were allowed to submit several songs but they must not have been performed or published before 30 November 2024. Last but not least, Sarah Bonniciwinner of the MESC 2024, has not been authorised to compete in the MESC 2025 as lead performer.
