Eurovision Song Contest 1956

The winning song of the Eurovision Song Contest 1956 was 'Refrain'. This was also the only year where, due to the low number of participants, each artist presented two songs. The detailed results were never published, leaving no second, third, or last place. The ballots were destroyed immediately after the contest. Only the winning song was announced by jury president Rolf Liebermann, and the full breakdown of each juror's votes is presumed lost by the EBU. Efforts to reconstruct the voting through interviews with jury members have been unsuccessful in providing a reliable result.
